Musicals
Aren't they frikkin' great?
I had to watch one (very poor) musical at the weekend and I just love the "suspend your belief" about watching people talking about their problems and then bursting into song.
Wouldn't it be great if life was like that and if we could have street fights like in West Side Story!!? (I think Half Boy and I tried to recreate that fight in Birmingham without success the other weekend).
So as well as, what are your favourite musicals (if any)? I also want to know which character in a musical you'd be?

I quite like musicals; however I haven't been to see one for years. My favourite without a doubt is Joseph. I went to see in at the London Palladium when I was small, Philip Schofield was playing Joseph at the time, and I loved it. I wouldn't mind going to see it again, with that bloke from ‘Any Dream Will Do...’ as Joseph.
Meh. My wife loves musicals, and occasionally drags me to see them. We saw 'Rent' this past spring. Basically about a bunch of 20-somethings who rent out an apt. building in New York, and the story bounces around between the friends various issues.
One I didn't mind was "The Lion King", which I saw a few years back. That was wonderfully done, and the audience interaction in it made it feel like you were part of the show.
Also, anything that has dancing and singing Giraffe's is a 5-star production in my book.
I hate them, for the very reason you like them. It just seems so stupid and unrealistic for the characters to just burst into song about their problems. And theyre always really corny or cheesy problems and songs, blah!!
The only one I have any time for is Grease and thats proably cause I was brought up watching it as a kid.
