How do you listen to music? do you listen to the message and lyrics or the sounds themselves? and have you ever had any mental or physical experiences while listening to music?

I can say for sure I listen to music for the music itself considering the genres of music I listen too (black metal/ambient, classical) and that I have had many strange experiences as well, including the first time I heard Burzum's album Hvis Lyset Tar Oss and I had an intense feeling that my soul was about to be ripped from my own body cause I let the music soak in that deep and there are other times where I feel as though all my life is getting sucked out of me or I'm being projected into foreign lands due to hypnotic repetition and good use of sounds to create a mental image.

Yeah I know, I take my music very seriously and I let it run very deep in my head.............

I don't find the lyrical content to be the overriding factor when listening to a song. It definitely embelishes good music, but I can listen to a song and love it and be fully aware of the complete rubbish that the lyrics maybe and not have that ruin it.

So music for me comes first, with great lyrics being a bonus feature!

It's strange, I usually listen to the actual musical part of music ... I don't listen to the lyrics. But when you bring that song up to me, I know the lyrics. Like I said, I don't listen or pay attention to them, but I know them.
