| Magneto (2007) A young Magneto seeks revenge on the Nazis who killed his family while befriending a young Charles Xavier.
I know picks are flying around for who should play these two all over the forums, but I think honestly if you want to do each role justice, I suggest the following actors. I posted a thread similar to this in the X-Men 3 forums before I knew there was actually a Magneto movie in production.
Erik Magnus Lensherr - Adrien Brody
Charles Xavier - Ewan McGregor
They're about the same age, Adrien Brody looks as if he could pull off a young Sir Ian McKellen very well, and McGregor has the pre-requisite British accent and could portray the boyish idealism a young Charles Xavier would have had.
I'd like to see the movie take place on the cusp of the Civil Rights movement, with the friendship of Erik and Charles budding from probably around 1954 until 1968. Keep in mind I'm no scrutinist as to what exactly the years were, and those who are making this movie will obviously take a bit of artistic licensing, so try not to bite my head off over this. Also, if the movie is set in the Civil Rights Era, Erik could say something to Charles like:
"They cannot even tolerate one another, what makes you think we stand a chance?"
The actual X-Men movies as they are can only reach so many conflicts before they have to try and include Apocalypse somehow, and he's not a villain you simply cast anyone as, which is why a prequel may be the next most logical step for the X-Men franchise. |
