Your "Sell Out" Bands Of Today

What is your bands of today, that you feel have "sold out"?

Mine are:

AFI :: Sorry, they earned it, but they did.
GreenDay :: Just.. ugh.
U2 :: Why are they still even making music?
Metallica :: I will catch ALOT of shit for this one. I'd say the fact they are still making music though.
Slipknot :: I don't know if they really "sold out" maybe they just suck now. >.>;
Linkin Park :: No need to explain
Korn :: No need to explain.

Why do people care if a band "sells out"? Especially if their music is still good.

I dont really understand the whole sell out thing. I mean a bands main purpose is to get big. So when they get big they are selling out? I realize a band like Green Day adjusts so they can still make money, but shit what are they supposed to do make the same music, and not make the money they could. I dunno seems crazy to me

True. I mean, don't get me wrong. I don't mean to take anything away from these bands. 'But you gotta understand that for alot of these bands, it's about the music, not money. Do I think it's wrong to displease your original fans to like Greenday (yes, alot of their old fans hate them now, including me) just to make a little more cash? Yes, I do. It shouldn't be able making a couple more million dollars to some of these bands. 'But once again, I didn't mean to take away anything from them initally, bands like AFI, Greenday(even though I feel they should of called it quits), and Metallica earned their rights to sell out by playing the same stuff for over a decade. Like I said, it's my opinion but some of these bands need to know when to call it quits.

They still have to make a living. With Green Day they had to change, you can't keep doing the same thing. They got older, and adjusted. I dont enjoy their new stuff, but I totally understand where they are coming from. When they were younger who knows what type of money they had recieved. Maybe they didnt get as much as you think.

I became a fan of Greenday when the Dookie album came out.

I am still just as much of a fan as I ever was.

Just because they have developed a younger fan base and have achieved some success doesn't mean they have sold out.

They are making music just as good now as they ever did.

I think it's more about the band's influences, and how they changed. More than changing their style to make more money. Times change and music changes. Look at the music over the ages. Styles never stay the same. So to say a band sells out because they changed the way the make music is a bit rediculous
