Saw this today, it sucked hard. Do yourself a favor and spend your money on the 1976 version.

i thought it wasn't bad, but then again it wasn't good. it was just there.......kinda like hwen ur watching tv and u lose the remote so u just keep watching.

Ebert gave it a good review, although I don't always agree with his reviews.

I won't see it in theatres, but i'll check it out on DVD.

Worst idea for a remake ever. I can just imagine the conversation that happened between the producers.

"Let's make a publicity movie to capitlize on 6/6/06! What's out there?"

"What about The Omen? Everyone loved that movie. We can remake it for half the budget and make twice as much money!"

I've read the reviews and there's so many plot holes in this version that it's not even funny.

In addition, the kid that plays Damien does not scare me. He looks constipated in the trailer more than anything else.

Add all this to my objections on a personal standpoint about the movie in general and you can bank on that I will never go near this dungheap of a movie.

I liked it, and i hate the bad reviews of everybody. Its retarded, its like "oh a horror movies out/ a remake is out time for a bad review." half the reason critics and just anybody doesnt like movies like this is just because its a remake or a horror.
Anyway I really liked this movie, not as much as the original but it was still good. They used the exact same script which a lot of people dont like but I like it, dont see it too often in remakes.

I pine for the day when they made original horror movies. It seems like nowadays you have like four or five of them which are constantly rehashed. Zombies, Satan, serial killers, serial killers who eat flesh or take limbs, etc. That's it.

Whatever happened to the early Stephen King horror movies? The ones that had a story, some substance, and wasn't just a remake or a rehashing of a worn out template.

Actually they spent quite a bit more on this movie. The original only cost about 2 and a half million dollars and this one about 60. Just goes to show money doesn't make a good movie. ;)

And I agree. The kid isn't scary. What made the kid in the original so scary was the fact that he seemed like an everyday normal kid. Like he didn't know he was the son of Satan. But the moment at the funeral when he gives the audience that knowing smile...THAT was scary.
