i just saw a preview for a show on A&E called GOD OR THE GIRL.
it's basically just following guys and how they live their lives with their girlfriends. showing the temptations guys have with girls and such. Me and Dak would enjoy this show more than anyone on here prolly. it would also be a good way to show you other "unbelievers" kind of what the christians or as jvn would call them "the gays" go thru on a daily basis.
the only downside about it is that they are catholics but i'll still watch
Haha so funny that you have a post about this, I saw the commercial the other day and I couldn't believe there's actually a show which features "god vs sex". I refuse to ever watch it.
There are major differences between Christians and Catholics. Catholics pray to mary. I also think that they say that Jesus never got off the cross. Im not really sure, cause I dont pay attention to them. But yeah, there are some big differences.
I always liked the emphasis on Mary. After all, she is the mother of God, no?
For those of troubled youth (such as myself) and lacking parents Mary was always the person that they told you to pray for, for comfort and guidance. It always did help me. The idea that you had a mother who was watching over you, unlike the real one, was probably the most comfort a person can have.
However, the Saint thing in Catholicism is just silly. The saints don't even match up right. Some of the historically never existed or were just put into place to destroy pagan gods that the church disapproved of (and pagan gods were more for culture, not for spirituality, so the church literally destroyed many cultures).
So Mary, vote yes. Other stuff, no.
I have no idea what you are talking about the cross thing. The way I learned it he died there, was taken down, etc.
Christians and Catholics, whats the difference? I'm being serious here, besides the Pope is there any big difference?
Catholics view Mary as a person who was a virgin her whole life (despite the gospels saying otherwise), they praise her as well as Christ.
Catholics also believe that an intermediary is needed in order for someone to speak to God (that intermediary being a priest, the Pope, what have you).
Catholics also rely a lot more on tradition than other sects do. Communion, Ash Wednesday, and many of their prayers are just a couple of the traditions that they follow.
Most sects aren't like this at all.
When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the country not enter the city. For this is the time of punishment in fullfillment of all that has been written. How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people. They will fall by the sword and be taken as prisoners to all nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
...At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.
