War Movies

Does anyone enjoy a good movie about war from time to time?

There's some good ones. Let's think of them.

Patton is probably my favorite. MacArthur with Gregory Peck is pretty good.

Full Metal Jacket is rad. All Quiet on the Western Front is a classic.

Saving Private Ryan is great. The battle scenes are probably the most realistic and gripping in any movie. However, All Quiet on the Western Front is pretty good too, especially consider for the time it was made.

I was never a big fan of Platoon, not sure how it won Best Picture.

Full Metal Jacket is freakin' awesome. The drill SGT. is great..but that doesn't make the whole movie like some would believe. The story of the group of young men from boot camp to warzone is capturing.

Saving Private Ryan as you said, I agree with what you said.

Umm.. I really liked Black Hawk Down too. Not sure why.. It just looked cool I think, the cinematography was really good. I think Scott won an Oscar for it.

I love a great war movie from time to time. Anyone seen Jarhead? I haven't heard much on whether its good or not. I'm sure Jamie Foxx is great in it.

I've heard that the book Jarhead sucks dick. I'm not really sure about the movie though.

Platoon never did shit for me either. It wasn't horrific but not what it should've been.

Blackhawk Down was really cool.

Anyone remember Hamburger Hill? I thought that was great when I was a younger man, can't remember it at all now. I think it's pretty gruesome though.

Saving Private Ryan was excellent of course. Full Metal Jacket and Apocalypse Now are classics as well.

When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the country not enter the city. For this is the time of punishment in fullfillment of all that has been written. How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people. They will fall by the sword and be taken as prisoners to all nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
...At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.

Saving Private Ryan was good but there is one part in it that still disturbs me to this day. I wish I would have never saw that part.

There is another good one that I watched but I don't recall the name of it.

Park the old car that I love the best
Inspections due and it won't pass the test
Funny how I have to put it to rest
And someday I will join it.
