French actress Eva Green is set to follow in the alluring footsteps of Ursula Andress, Honor Blackman and Halle Berry as the newest "Bond girl."

Green, 25, has been selected to portray Vesper Lynd opposite the newest James Bond â€” British actor Daniel Craig â€” in the upcoming instalment, Casino Royale.

Green made her film debut in Bernardo Bertolucci's 2003 film The Dreamers and also appeared in the 2005 crusades drama Kingdom of Heaven.

Columbia Pictures made the announcement about Green on Thursday, shortly after director Martin Campbell confirmed that Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen would portray the film's villain, Le Chiffre.

U.S. actor Jeffrey Wright, whose recent credits include Syriana, Broken Flowers, Lackawanna Blues and Angels in America, has also joined the cast as an undercover CIA agent named Felix Leiter.

Production on the upcoming 21st Bond film began in Prague in January but will also travel to other locales, including Italy, the U.K. and the Bahamas. The movie is set to hit theatres in November.

In the book version of Casino Royale, the first in author Ian Fleming's long-running series, British agent Bond and Le Chiffre match wits while playing high-stakes baccarat.

The pictures I saw of her, I don't think she is Bond Girl Material. I hope she proves me wrong.

Lets hope they get Bond back on track, Die Another Day was the last straw.

Casino Royale is looking like it will bomb.

Daniel Craig is not a good choice for Bond, and the fact that they started filming before they cast the two main villians and the Bond girl? This is not looking like it will be a good movie IMO.

Damn, and wasn't this film supposed to be taking Bond back to its successful (good film) roots? I'm sick of all the XXX bollocks they had been making.

You obviously haven't seen the unrated version of Bertolucci's "The Dreamers". That picture doesn't do her justice, Eva Green is drop dead gorgeous.

I've never been into Bond all that much, strange considering Goldeneye for the N64 is probably my favorite game ever, but I still thought Brosnan made a great Bond and I'm pretty annoyed that they replaced him with Craig. Granted I thought he was really good in Layer Cake but I guess since I grew up with the Brosnan movies I just identify him with the James Bond role.
