Godzilla Vs. King Kong

Was anyone else as saddened as I was when they saw this movie?

I was a big fan of both movies. King Kong was a great movie, one of the greatest for sure.

They used the worst costumes for this movie though. I don't know what the hell King Kong was, it looked like some kind of racist bullshit to me. The movie from the 40s (or whatever) had a much more realistic King Kong. What's up with that?

The movie was just bad. It should've been a masterpiece but I felt let down. Maybe I cried. I don't remember. Probably.

You have to remember that it was made in the 60s by Toho. For it's time, it was the best they had. Sure, the Toho Kong looked silly (although Godzilla rawked, IMO) but it was good for it's time. You also have to remember that they had to more than double Kong's size so that he could size up to Godzilla (Godzilla is, after all 200 feet or so high whereas Kong is only 50 feet tall in the original film).

I personally love the film. I watched it as a kid probably a hundred times and it never got old.

I can't wait til King Kong comes out next month!

Yeah, I forgot about the size of King Kong. That also bothered me.

I don't see how King Kong could've been good for it's time when a billion years earlier they did a much better version of him. The special effects in King Kong were also a lot better.

It just should've been a better movie because, as a kid, I was a big fan of both characters.

Stop motion animation always looks better than men in suits. ;)

However, since Toho did the film and Godzilla was the big man in suit monster franchise we were never gonna see two stop motion monsters going at it.
