Rep Power: 14 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Spinoff90's DVD Pick Of The Week If you read the video game one then I am doing this one the opposite of how I did that. With DVDs it is easier to say the week before since chances are you have seen the movie, show, wrestling event etc. Where with games I am doing it based on the week before with games that are out since before that you just judge it on what you read, saw or played in a demo. Like the video game one feel free to add your pick of the week to this. Enough talk and onto the pick...... --------------- Pick Of The Week: The Wizard Of Oz: Three-Disc Collector's Edition Studio: Warner Home Video Release Date: October 25, 2005 DVD Features Available subtitles: English, Spanish, French Available Audio Tracks: English (Dolby Digital 5.1), English (Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono), French Commentary by John Fricke and cast Disc 1: Ultra-Resolution restored 1939 movie with new 5.1 audio The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Storybook Prettier Than Ever: The Restoration of Oz We Haven't Really Met Properly...: Character bios Music-only track Original mono track Theatrical trailers Disc 2: The Wonderful World of Oz: The Making of a Movie Classic (1990 TV special) Memories of Oz (2001 TCM documentary) The Art of Imagination: A Tribute to Oz Because of the Wonderful Things it Does: The Legacy of Oz Harold Arlen's home movies Outtakes and deleted scenes Special effects sequences From the Vault: Another Romance of Celluloid: Electrical Power (1938 MGM short), Cavalcade of Academy Awards (1939 newsreel), Texas Contest Winners 1939 trailer Audio vault (selection only) Leo Is on the Air radio promo Good News of 1939 radio show 12/25/1950 Lux Radio Theater broadcast Stills galleries Disc 3: L. Specifically Celebrating the Release of The Wizard of Oz Photoplay Studies - Rare Secondary Education Scholastic In Honor of The Wizard of Oz. Magazine, Volume V, Number 12 (circa August 1939) The Studio's Invitation to The Grauman's Premiere That Included Tickets to the Original Opening Night (plus a newly designed commemorative ticket) Deluxe Collector's Portfolio - Reproductions of Original 1939 Kodachrome Publicity Art -- nine portraits and on-set photographs WHY I PICKED IT In most weeks this will usually end up being my favorite movie or show but this week it actually isn't my favorite movie or show of the week. So why would I pick this? Well it might not be my favorite in terms of the movie but this is just a great set. A ton of extra features and I am a whore for extra stuff like all the replicas of stuff this set has. For people that don't care about the content on the third disc and all the replica stuff but love the movie there is also the cheaper two-disc set. **NOTE** And if you are curious what would have been my choice if this set wasn't so good. It would be 3rd Rock From The Sun Season 2. Love the show and for the most part this week is pretty poor for DVD releases with a lot of crap like House of Wax, Herbie Fully Loaded etc. I am sure the Titanic DVD will probably be pretty popular but I am not a huge fan of that :lick:

Rep Power: 15 ![]() | I'm not a big fan of The Wizard of Oz, but this sounds like a really good DVD set. I might pick this up for my mother since she really loves this movie. |
| Visit and shop for video games at my Amazon-based store, also get discounted HD DVDs while they last. | |

Rep Power: 14 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Update: I will be trying to find DVD caps of DVDs for these threads or if I can't find any hopefully add my own. In this case like the last couple of posts I will end up buying it for my mom as a Christmas present so I wouldn't have been able to take caps but I did find some. Then it will sit around for a year unwatched like the Gone With The Wind set I bought her last year :lick: For her the two-disc or even the older DVD would be fine though so it is kind of going to be for me to with all the extra stuff :laugh11: So here are.... DVD SCREEN CAPS OLD DVD SCREEN CAP TO COMPARE ![]() Not a huge upgrade in picture but it really didn't need it. Colors are a little more vibrant now with the contrast and brightness adjusted a little better
