The Joker Down to Two Men

In the casting rumors department I have come across some surprising news.

The Joker is slated to be in the sequel to "Batman Begins" and Chris Nolan has apparently narrowed his search down to two people:

Paul Bettany


Lachy Hulme


Rumor has it screen tests will indeed take place this fall, although it was unclear if one or both of these actors are testing.

I am rooting for Hulme myself. He is a dead on match for the Joker facial and he is a talented enough actor to pull it off.

I think Bettany is talented he just doesn't look like the Joker to me.

The Batman sequel is slated to be director Nolan's next project after his current film wraps.

The Joker will be the villian? I was hoping for someone new, maybe Clayface.

Lache Hulme seems like a good choice to me.

Two villians actually.

The Joker is the main one while the other is rumored to be Two Face aka Harvey Dent.

If it is Two-Face expect the movie to be more graphic as they are leaning towards making his face scarred like the comics and not some purple goof like Tommy Lee Jones played.

I'm sure it will still be good but I wish they would choose Batman villians that haven't been featured in movies yet.

You have to remember that this is a restart. So, according to Begins, none of those villains have ever been seen yet. ;)

I'm rooting for Hulme myself. I'd rather Crispin Glover, but Hulme would be a good choice too. He just LOOKS like the Joker.

As for the Two-Face rumor

In an interview with writer David Goyer, he said he had the idea of Harvey Dent helping Batman chase down the Joker, and then become Two-Face in the third film.

So Chris Nolan is completing ignoring all the Batman Films???? I thought the entire point in the ending to Batman Begins was that is would slot into the old films.

Thats a bit shit really. I wanted a new villan too.

Ummm...it's pretty obvious watching the film that this had nothing to do with the Burton or Schumacher (thank God) films. In Batman '89, it was revealed that the JOKER killed Bruce's parents, however in this film Joe Chill was the killer. Not to mention the city looks completely different from Burton and Schumacher's films.
