HBO Series: Rome

Has anyone caught the first two episodes of this show yet? I've watched bits and pieces and it looks pretty a good show. Depicts Rome well, orgy's, backstabbing, and fighting.

Since no one replied to my thread, I'm going to reply with one big screw up I noticed.

During the 3rd episode two of the "soldiers" were laying down looking at the sky when the one asked what the stars were. The 2nd soldier replied by saying they were holes in the sky that allowed the heavens to shine through. The holes are infact very large, but only appear small because they are many miles away.

I don't expect total factualness on the show, which is good as I don't understand Latin, but that's just an awful screw up.

Do you really expect it to be in Latin?

I would think they would use MILES just for the viewer to better understand it.

By the way, this show looks really fantastic. Too bad I don't have HBO.

No, I only pointed that out because someone was complaining about on their forums about how all the actors have a British Accent.

I do think they could have done a much better job of writing the script though, perhaps replacing miles with "a great distance away" which would have gone along pretty well with the old english style of speaking that they choose to use.

I'm a history nerd. Infact, as soon as I make my millions doing who knows what, I want to get my college degree in teaching and become a history teacher.

I am also a history nerd. Roman/Greek ancient stuff especially.

I get confused with American History. It's boring.

There was another series I was watching about Caesar but I forget what it was called. That one was much better.

I agree. European history and some of the early colonization of the America's is interesting, but other than that, it's just lame game for me.
