Variety reports that Lakeshore Entertainment will produce the action-thriller Crank for Lions Gate Films, with Transporter 2 star Jason Statham set to star.

The mayhem-driven film will track a hit man's one-day rampage through the streets of Los Angeles after learning he's been poisoned. The film is set to begin shooting in Los Angeles in October.

Writing team Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor penned the script and will helm in their feature directorial debut.

Sounds like a cool movie, but I have to tell you Spidey, when I first read the title of this thread I was like "What?"... I actually thought you were saying he was on crank..lol

My dad played "J.T.", one of Statham's bodyguards, in Turn it Up.

He got shot by Pras, but only after smacking Ja Rule in the face with a pistol.

It's pretty hilarious.

More details have emerged about this film that have me marking it on my must see list for next year.

Here's a quote from Amy Smart Staham's costar:

"It’s not a drug movie! It sounds like one. But I’m working with Jason Statham. He plays this guy who’s a hitman and he’s been shot up with Chinese poison. Through the whole movie, in order to keep alive he has to keep his adrenaline up. It’s kind of like the movie SPEED but in a body. And he tries everything. Everything – grotesque, whatever it is – to keep himself alive. And I’m his girlfriend that’s just in her own world."
