Rep Power: 7 ![]() | American Comedies on British TV Don't they just get treated like crap? There are so many instances where GREAT American comedies seem to be ignored, or sold to small satellite channels few people watch, and we take either their worse ones as works of genius, or accept our own crap. Seinfeld - played on BBC2 at about 1AM. So we all kinda missed it. What a complete waste. Scrubs - the schedule for that is ridiculous, all the episodes are played out of sequence. It sucks, the programme is great. Frasier - classic TV, and yet put on daytime, or playing second fiddle to Friends. Arrested Development - I don't know how big this programme is over in the States but I think it's great, and again, a late night slot and muddled scheduling f*cks it up. It just seems crappy that all these great programmes are pushed around to show crap like "My Hero" and "My Family". God, it annoys me. |

Rep Power: 15 ![]() | Unfortuantly Arrested Development doesn't get great ratings, although I love the show and havn't missed a single episode. It's too bad it has a bad time slot over there, here it used to air sunday at 8:30 PM although for season 3 it is moving to monday at 8 PM. |

Seinfield wouldn't be liked from a general audience over here. Too many people are intimidated by the idea its a "silly American program" when really when you get to know it, it often mocks its own sillyness, and further sillyness ensues! Its comical genius, if you can forgive a few stupid over-reaching coincidences. British audiences will never appreciate it, I promise you. And Scrubs is on like 8 times a day! Sky One, Channel 4, E4 (I know C4-E4 same thing but E4 show it all the fricken time) and in Ireland its on RTE as well.

I could quote it all the time. In the US, Fraiser has been regulated to the B type TV stations, while Seinfeld plays like 3 times a night on Fox (top TV station)

I was never a big fan of Frasier after the first few seasons. It just kind of lost it's appeal to me. I know a lot of people who feel the same way. That's probably why it's not shown much consideration in terms of programming in the UK.

Rep Power: 19 ![]() | Fraiser is too formulatic. They probably used a template to write each of those shows. Arrested Development rules. I would say that Arrested Development is somewhat popular in America. It has a lame time-slot though, as everyone else has said. It has it's following though. It usually gets a ton of critical praise too. It's by far the best NEW show in the U.S. |
