LOS ANGELES - Paramount is recruiting "Nip/Tuck" creator Ryan Murphy to revamp the long-gestating drama "Need."
Based on the novel by Lawrence David, "Need" is a dark saga of depression and adultery focusing on a psychiatrist who finds out that her manic-depressive new patient is sleeping with her husband. No hilarity ensues.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Need" has already gone through several permutations. Chloe King ("B. Monkey") and Jon Bokenkamp ("Taking Lives") wrote adaptations of the novel. At various points, Marcus Nispel ("The Texas Chainsaw Massacre") was signed on to direct and Diane Lane was set to star.
Murphy is expected to give the project a full rewrite and will then stick around to direct. An Emmy nominee for his direction of the "Nip/Tuck" pilot, Murphy is putting the finishing touches on his feature directing debut, an adaptation of Augusten Burroughs' "Running with Scissors" starring Annette Bening, Gwyenth Paltrow and Evan Rachel Wood.

It's a great show. Most everyone I know doesn't like soap operas but they love the show.
I watched it once or twice but just didn't get into it. I watch a lot of TV but there are many shows that just don't appeal to me. The only hospital show that has my attention is the brilliantly written and acted show House. That show is amazing. it is like watching CSI but with live patients lol.

I agree...it's too bad he gave up playing Perry White. He would have made a brillant addition to the new Superman movie.
