LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - "True Romance" star Christian Slater has been arrested for getting too fresh with a woman in New York.
The 35-year-old actor allegedly groped a woman's bottom near 93rd Street and Third Avenue in Manhattan in the wee hours of Tuesday morning, May 31, reports the AP.
The unidentified woman alerted the police, who found Slater nearby and arrested him. He is charged with third-degree sexual abuse and later showed up in Manhattan Criminal Court later Tuesday where he was given a July 14 court date.
It's not the actor's first run-in with the law. In August 1997, he pleaded no contest to biting a man's stomach and then tossing a police officer against a wall during a party in Los Angeles. He served 90 days in jail.
In February of this year, he filed for divorce from Ryan Haddon, his wife of five years. The marriage had its share of conflict, most recently with Haddon allegedly hitting him with a drinking glass during an argument in their Las Vegas hotel room. No charges were filed.
Slater's film credits include "The Name of the Rose," "Gleaming the Cube," "Heathers," "Young Guns II," "Pump up the Volume," "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves," "True Romance," "Broken Arrow," "Windtalkers" and the recent big-screen flop "Alone in the Dark."
He currently appears in "The Glass Menagerie" on Broadway.
