Watched this movie yesterday, and I gotta say I was pleasantly surprised...
I thought the parts with Joan, Dave, and Stumpo were a little hokey, but I realized that it's such a dark and gritty movie, a little light-heartedness helped balance things out. Also, those three were real characters in the comics, so it makes sense that they would eb there.
They also did a great job of making him seem like a real bad-ass, especially the way he kills Travolta and his son who's trapped in the office building. and the way that he gets Travolta to kill his wife and consigliere was awesome too. And the guy who plays the guitar and sings to him in the dinner....that was a cool scene
Did anyone notice when he gave the "upset" speech? One of the lines he said was "Upset? I used to get upset when the Yankees won the Series..." Which is ironic, because he played Mickey Mantle in the movie *61. I thought that was pretty cool

I agree on the dialogue...I'm not a huge fan of Thomas Jane, either. I mean, he pulled off the tough guy aspect pretty well, but the parts where he had to get emotional about his family were pretty unconvincing. Still, he played the dark side of Frank Castle very well.
And I reiterate...the ending was awesome
I dont really remember who Punisher's villains were in the comics...I remember Kingpin, but he was in Daredevil. Who else was there?

They never kept many around except Jigsaw because Castle kept killing them off.
I wasn't into the comic too much but it's currently unedited in the MAX adult line at Marvel. So they are letting the blood flow freely. You have to show ID to buy these kinds of comics if they think you are not of age.
Apparently Thomas Jane liked making the movie so much that he pushed for a sequel. This time it will be in New York like the comic and not in Tampa.
I've heard they are considering putting Jigsaw in this one.
I expect it get a hard R rating.

I don't read the Punisher comics anymore...it got boring to me.
However, I did like the movie. The dialogue was awful for the most part, but the action sequences were pretty damn cool. I'm not sure if I want to see a sequel though.
