And I always took the guardians age to be the age when he found the grail. I believed that it was supposed to symbolise the guradian took all his life to find it. He certainly doesn't look 1500+ years old! |
I believe the story was that if you remained in the temple you were immortal after drinking the grail water.
But once you passed the shield the immortality was gone, but nothing was reversed.
That's what I took away from it.
