Jackson & Ricci in "Black Snake Moan"

This is one heck of a disturbing title for a movie lol

Quote:
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com)- Samuel L. Jackson and Christina Ricci are in talks to star in "Black Snake Moan," an independent feature from Craig Brewster ("Hustle & Flow").

Set to film in Memphis this summer, according to Production Weekly, "Black Snake Moan" focuses on a white nymphomaniac (Ricci, we're guessing) who seeks out an older bluesman (Jackson, probably) to cure her of her sexual disorder.

The film's title, complete with ample obvious sexual imagery, comes from a 1927 song by legendary country blues vocalist and guitarist Blind Lemon Jefferson.

Paramount Classics is set to release "Hustle & Flow" in mid-August. The Southern rap drama, which stars Terrence Dashon Howard, was one of the breakout hits of this winter's Sundance Film Festival, where it won an audience award.

Ricci was last seen in "Cursed," a box office disappointment earlier this year. Her other credits include "Sleepy Hollow" and, back in the day, "The Addams Family."

Samuel Jackson, who seems to be physically incapable of not working, has already been in theaters this year in "In My Country," "Coach Carter," "xXx: State of the Union" and a little film called "Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith" and will soon appear in "The Man" with Eugene Levy. Jackson has also committed to "Flight 121," a thriller about snakes on a plane. Hopefully, those will be different kinds of snakes.

Heh, Samuel Jackson is the new Michael Caine.

Considering the content of the movie, I'd be surprised if the title survived if they want a wide release. Otherwise: Coming Soon, to an Arthouse Theater near you!

Yeah but considering how bad Cursed was you gotta know this is a step up for Ricci.

Considering how many films Jackson is doing this year I think he is trying to beat Jude Law from last year on how many movies he can star in, in one year.

He's off to a good start, that's for sure. Remember how Michael Caine used to have a part in about every movie you'd see during the 80s and early 90s?

Ricci gets all this acclaim for her acting ability, and yet I haven't seen much of it. She was great in the Addams Family movies and really good in Sleepy Hollow, but the few other films of hers I've seen weren't that impressive, and didn't do very well overall. In fact, in the reviews of those films I remember reading comments from the critics like "Ricci is a great actress, but here she..." etc. So which is it? If so many of her film reviews include comments like that, surely she's not that good is she?

She lacts a lot in emotional range and believability in my view.

Most of these roles I've seen her in she just seems out of place in the movie. The only role I truly bought her in was the Addams Family.

Michael Caine is already receiving a lot of praise for his role as Alfred in Batman Begins BTW.

A lot of folks are saying it's his best role in years.

I'm not saying Caine was bad, just that he shows up in a lot of films.

Ricci kind of looks freaky too. That big forehead and whatnot.

No i didn't mean it that way I was just saying it's the first film he's done in quite awhile that I am actually looking forward to.

Yeah, I think its been awhile since he's had a decent major role. I don't consider Jaws 4 to be one of his better works.
