Reynolds Slaps Producer at Premiere

Remind me not to piss Burt Reynolds off. Talk about a serious impulse control problem!
Quote:
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Here's a piece of advice to the media: If you haven't seen either of Burt Reynolds' versions of "The Longest Yard," don't tell him to his face.

One TV producer made that mistake just outside the premiere for the football comedy on Tuesday night (May 24) and was chastised physically for the lapse.

According to the AP, Reynolds was surprised when the producer for CBS News PATH admitted he hadn't seen 1974's "The Longest Yard" nor the Adam Sandler-starring remake.

"What ... kind of guy are you?" Reynolds asked and then slapped the man just out of range of cameras. The footage of the incident doesn't provide visuals, but the slap is audible.

A spokesman for Reynolds says that the actor "playfully tapped [the producer] on the cheek, as if to say, 'Well, that's not very nice.' He was kidding."

In the original 1974 film, Reynolds starred as a jailed ex-pro quarterback who's forced to assemble a team of inmates to play against a team of guards. In the updated version, which hits theaters Friday, May 27, he plays a coach.

That slap is like a Reynold's trademark though, its a "boys messing around" thing. Look at any of his movies, especially the ones with Dom Deluise. Slap,slapslapslapslap...etc. Even the setup of what happens sounds like what you see in his movies or on his sets. Seems the only problem was this producer wasn't in on the joke.

Btw Spanky, you really should check out the original. Classic flick.

Yeah but i've seen the clip pp2....I'm pretty sure Burt was really pissed and backhanded the guy.

I agree in recommending the original.

Could be then. I was just going off what I've seen him do dozens of times and assumed this was the same.

I understand. I've seen him do it many times too.

But from watching the clip it's hard tell what he was thinking. You see him go off screen and you hear an audible *slap* Then Burt, I think when he realizes the guy is getting upset, starts to say it was a joke.

It was just a bad idea joke or not in my view
