| The "Master of Error" is quite busy, indeed Uwe Boll seems to be lining up a lot of movies-from-videogame projects. Aside from House of the Dead, he's also responsible for the upcoming Alone in the Dark and Bloodrayne films, with the projects Hunter: The Reckoning and Farcry announced as well.
While I still don't see the point of a Hunter: The Reckoning movie (heh, still don't see the point of the game) I think Bloodrayne could be lots of fun.
I know Boll takes a beating for his skills but I think he's well-suited for the videogame/movie genre. House of the Dead was a bad movie...no denying that. HOWEVER...Boll "got it". The movie had some pretty nice moments of style and never, ever forgot it was a movie based on a lightgun game about shooting zombies. I remember when I first saw HotD I remarked to a buddy of mine that Boll should have been the one doing Resident Evil since, as I mentioned, he "got it".
I have high hopes for the finished projects as well as his upcoming works. Not that I would want to see him doing the HALO movie, but I think this guy found his calling in the survival horror/action-horror game to movie subgenre. I don't expect any of these movies to be cinematic classics, but I do expect them to be entertaining real life counterparts of their games. |
