Rep Power: 61 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Weekend Box Office Here's the totals for the weekend box office receipts if anyone is interested: 1. Monster-In-Law--------------------------->$ 24 Million 2. Kicking and Screaming--------------------->$ 20.9 Million 3. Unleashed-------------------------------->$ 10.6 Million 4. Kingdom of Heaven------------------------>$ 9.6 Million 5. Crash------------------------------------->$ 7.2 Million 6. House of Wax----------------------------->$ 6.3 Million 7. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy-------->$ 4.8 Million 8. The Interpreter---------------------------->$ 4.4 Million 9. XXX: State of the Union-------------------->$ 2.2 Million 10. Mindhunters------------------------------->$ 2 Million I am suprised to see the J-Lo film did so well. Then again maybe not. I predict it will fall very far down the ladder when next week comes around and Star Wars is released.

Rep Power: 8 ![]() | I'm with you. I would have expected the Hanoi J'Lo movie to be pulling in the numbers Unleashed did, and vice-versa. Kinda surprised Hitchhiker is down that low so soon as well, I thought it was pretty well received. Word of mouth is a killer though, and I agree with you that the incredibly untalented Ms Lopez will find her film belly-up before long.

It's probably why they released the J-Lo film now, to pick up the small numbers it can before Lucas and Company kick it away like the dud it is.

Rep Power: 8 ![]() | Most likely that was their plan, they also may have figured there would be the inevitable crash after week 1 so might as well do it before the competition was out. My memory fails: what's the weekend record? I think Sith is going to top the record and then some. The buzz surrounding it is very positive, so that can only help.

Rep Power: 8 ![]() | I knew you'd find that out, thanks! ![]() I think Sith has a chance at that record mainly because of, as I mentioned, the positive buzz surrounding it for a couple weeks now. I think Lucas was smart to screen it ahead of time to erase the doubts he had to have known many people had about Sith. Either way, Lucas won't be filing for welfare any time soon.

"Spider-Man" surpassed all expectations by doing an astounding $114, 844,116 at the box office over its first three days of release. Predictions for the opening weekend had ranged from $60-70 million, but no prognosticators even came within webslinging distance of the real figure. I don't think I need to tell you why I remember how the first film did. I waited for years for that film to come out and the first day I saw it twice in it's first two showings when it came to our area. Sith will come close to the record but i'm not sure it will surpass it. Anything's possible I guess though!

Rep Power: 8 ![]() | "I don't think I need to tell you why I remember how the first film did." Hrm...who knew? :P Yeah, I remember now how that movie just dominated. I think Spiderman was a property that many, many people were dying for a great version of and once they got it, they all flocked to see it. Many times. Btw, the local Fox affiliate had Phantom Menace on this afternoon and had a longer preview of Sith during it. There was a particular scene I had seen before in other previews, but this version contained about 2 more seconds that excited me more than I had even been to this point. The scene when Windu and the other jedi place Palpatine under arrest and Palpatine makes some comment to him, that's where the version I had seen before ended. In this version Palpatine pulls a lightsabre out of his sleeve, fires it up, and attacks. Great stuff! Edit: What's the OC?
