"I don't think I need to tell you why I remember how the first film did."
Hrm...who knew? :P
Yeah, I remember now how that movie just dominated. I think Spiderman was a property that many, many people were dying for a great version of and once they got it, they all flocked to see it. Many times.
Btw, the local Fox affiliate had Phantom Menace on this afternoon and had a longer preview of Sith during it. There was a particular scene I had seen before in other previews, but this version contained about 2 more seconds that excited me more than I had even been to this point. The scene when Windu and the other jedi place Palpatine under arrest and Palpatine makes some comment to him, that's where the version I had seen before ended. In this version Palpatine pulls a lightsabre out of his sleeve, fires it up, and attacks. Great stuff!
Edit: What's the OC?
Yeah I saw the scene you speak of on the web awhile back.
I think Palpatine's line was this, I maybe off a little on the dialog:
"Are you threatening me Master Jedi?!"
Btw - Love how they transform his voice and physical appearance to how he appeared in Return of the Jedi when he is revealed for what he is.
Yeah, that was the line. I also had the opportunity to watch a good portion of the Clone Wars cartoons over the weekend. My first impression was I didn't care for the art style and figured I'd lose interest quickly...wrong! Good stuff.
Totally offtopic, but here's something I'm curious about: Why does Sidious' face look so different from Palpatine? I understand the whole "Dark Side corrupting your appearance" thing, but how is Palpatine able to not look so decrepit otherwise?
Oh yeah, and as for my watching Menace again today? Jake Lloyd STILL a poor job in the role of young Anakin.
HA! Death to Jar Jar. Its funny, I was watching Menace with my son and we got on the subject of Jar Jar. He thought Jar Jar was cool...but then he's only 11 as well. I think many kids thought Jar Jar was a good thing (my niece and nephew liked him as well) and most adults saw him for what he was: fodder for the kids. Heh, at least it wasn't Elmo.
I guess the general dislike for Jar Jar is why Ep 1 is sometimes referred to as "The Jar Jar Menace"?
Wow...that's a lot of Jar Jar I just typed. I must go to bed now, I'm obviously loopy. :P

I just got tired of the stupid dialog of the character. I mean how many times can you hear "How rude" before you have flashbacks of that annoying kid from the tv show Full House.
HA! Nice analogy. Ya know, no matter how many times I watch Menace, I still find myself hoping each time that Qui Gonn will strangle that freak with his own tongue.

You will see how Palp's face gets so disfigured.
I think Lloyd did a very good job in Menace for the most part (watch the dinner scene, the Temple scene). Sure he had some rough spots, but he's a child actor. There's no one his age that could have done any better, IMO.
As for the Jar Jar hate, I tire of it myself (no offense to pp2 or Spidey here ;) ). Sure, he's annoying, but he's supposed to be the annoying outcast character. It's not like the characters are saying, "Oh Jar Jar, you're so funny and we love your hijinks!" They find him annoying as well.
So, if you're annoyed by Jar Jar, then George Lucas achieved his goal when it came to the character. ;)
When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the country not enter the city. For this is the time of punishment in fullfillment of all that has been written. How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people. They will fall by the sword and be taken as prisoners to all nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
...At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.
Luke 21:20-28
If the other characters were as annoyed by Jar Jar as the rest of us, they would have done us a favor and killed him. :P
I really am curious about the disfigurement thing. You can see Sidious is all rotting and that, but Palp is smooth and dapper. Unless its some kind of cloaking jedi mind trick thing...I dunno heh. If it were some kind of Force trick, wouldn't the council pick up on it?

Hint: Not a force trick. You never see Sidious' face in TPM or AOTC because the cloak hides most of his face. But he is NOT disfigured.
