The Contender - Down to the final four. Bios as well.

So who watches this show? It airs in Boston and most likely the rest of North America at 8pm Sunday nights.

I personally love this show and havent missed a single episode.

Here is a small breakdown I made up of the 4 remaining contenders for the title shot and 1 million dollar prize.

The Contender started off with two teams consisting of 8 people each. They were divided by West vs. East with all but 1 person coming from the United States.

The teams were broken up when it got down to 6 people left.

The winners of a team challenge would have the ability to choose their opponent off the other team. This put the winning challenge team at a huge advantage.

Here is a small breakdown I made up of the 4 remaining contenders for the title shot and 1 million dollar prize.

Jesse Brinkley

Age: 28
Hometown: Yerington, NV
Occupation: Boxer
Family: Girlfriend: Colleen Ritter
Kids: Steyr & Denaya

Jesse beat a tough vetran in Jonathan Reid in week 2. Reid had a record of 34-1 before suffering a 5 round decision to Jesse.

Jesse also beat hard hitting Anthony Bosante last week. Jesse offically became the first person on the Contender to knock a man down. Bosante went down with a viscous uppercut and was so dazed the match ended shortly there after. Many people considered Bosante the favorite to win it all before Jesse took him out.

Alfonso Gomes Jr.

Age: 24
Hometown: Guadalajara, Mexico/ Tustin, CA
Occupation: Boxer

Dont let this record fool you. This little guy can flat out MOVE. He beat the new favorite Peter Manfredo jr. in Week 1. Manfredo had been 22-0 and world ranked before losing to Alfonso. Alfonso also beat Babyface Kaddor in a hard fought battle that left Alfonso beat up but victorious.

Sergio "The Latin Snake" Mora

Age: 25
Hometown: East Los Angeles, CA
Occupation: Boxer

The Latin snake uses speed as his main weapon of choice. Stamina is another deciding factor in his 14-0 record. Sergio beat promising young boxer Najai Turpin. Turpin later killed himself. (for real) Sergio then advanced to the final four by beating at the time undefeated Ishe Smith.

Age: 24
Hometown: Providence, RI
Occupation: Electrician
Family: Wife: Yamilka
Kids: Alexis Marie

Peter Manfredo suffered his first professional loss on "The Contender" against Alfonso Gomez. He was then voted back onto the show after one of the contestants was diagnosed with Chicken Pox and was forced to leave for medical reasons. Alot of people wanted Manfredo in because he is considered the best fighter amongst the 16 contenders. As Ric Flair says "To be the man, you have to beat the man. Unfortunetly for everyone else. They may have given Manfredo a million reasons to prove why his only professional loss was a fluke and not a pattern.

Simon's prediction.

Jesse Brinkley loses to Peter Manfredo in a split decision.

Hope this made you want to watch the final couple episodes.

I've only seen the show once or twice because my friend orders like every wrestling PPV there is or I watch the comedy on Fox such as American Dad, The Simpsons, and Family Guy.

However, I like boxing and now that it's down to the final four I may tune in. Good post btw, Simon...it was informative and presented well.

NBC is canceling the fourth installment of the "Law & Order" series, "Trial By Jury," which lost star Jerry Orbach shortly after production began. The Mark Burnett/Sylvester Stallone boxing series "The Contender," "American Dreams" and "Third Watch" are also not returning.

I, like you, have enjoyed watching the contender and I thought Trial by Jury was a decent show.

It sux that they won't give these shows a chance but we're stuck with the Friends spin-off "Joey"

:erm2:

Yes it does.

Considering the crap that NBC puts on right now, this move surprised me.

Apparently they are making way for three new shows that want to give a chance.

My dad said, and I'm fairly certain he was just confused (it's his natural state), that they aren't even going to air the final episode but they still will have the fight and someone will win.

I guess Stallone was on Larry King and said this, according to my father. That would be complete horseshit if it were true.

I'm too tired to do it now but I will do some research on this tomorrow Miakal and get back to you.

Hopefully the answers are out there somewhere.

God I just sounded like a bad episode of the X-Files

Edit: Miakal I could find no evidence of this. All points say they are airing the final episode. I think you're right in your Dad was confused.
