Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Has anyone read this book? I have heard comments from others who have read it but was never into it and was thinking about it now that the movie is near release.

Will the movie stay true to the book for all you fans out there or are you concerned?

I am curious to hear feedback.

I heard from someone that the ending is "unique" in the book.

Is this accurate?

k, thanks for the input but i will be seeing it as well. I just was wondering if some folks had been fans of the book for awhile, enough to tell me what to expect from the flick before I go.

The "books" are pure comedy, I read them all at a younger age and a few other Douglas Adams works. For the fim to be a sucess it needs to focus on getting the comedy right and not just using millions of dollars on spfx. There was in addition to the classic radio shows, a tv series already made of Hitchikers it is well worth looking up even if the spfx dont stand the test of time (i think it was circa 1985ish). Overall as much as I want to enjoy this film I feel like I might be let down.

I read the first three books and they're funny in some spots. I actually saw the 8 hour BBC miniserial a while back of the first three books and they did a good job staying faithful to the novels. With this remake, it'll be good to see how it differs from the original.

A friend told me that Adams had fought publishers for the last several years of his life, trying not to let the book be turned into a movie. Then as soon he died, the rights were sold to whichever movie company it is.
