Got a heads up a sweet low-budget flick about witches in the land that is horror, Transylvania today, and truth be told, this shite looks frickin' scary as hell!
It's called TRANSYLVANIA PROJECT, wich obviously got the title inspiration from BLAIR WITCH, but let's move on... It's set up is also documentary in style and look, claiming to be using real footage straight from Transylvania. Check it out:
There is a belief , in Transylvania ... Once you open the doors to witchcraft, you can not close it until you face your curse. A police investigation unravels a mysterious disappearance. A missing person, in year, 2005 . It appears a man went to a witch to be relieved of a curse terrorizing his life and Family. The witch performed a ritual and the man found himself part of her unforeseen powers. The man was instructed by the witch to go deep in the woods and find a tree with a cross carved on it...retrieve the box and do it precisely at midnight. This box was his only hopes of redeeming his soul and being shed of this awful curse. Days later, a search near the woods , for the missing man, turned up only his abandoned car and a camcorder with a recording. Furthermore, the scene turned up tracks of blood drops. At this time, the case is cold and the man appears to still be missing.
You can't catch the witch hunt in theaters, as it's being released straight to DVD April 10th. The trailer (which you can check out HERE) is spooky, with lots of shots of twisted rituals, examples of witchcrafts and spells, and all around voodoo weirdness.
Not sure about the whole 'playing it off for being real' gig that was at the base of it's inspirations, but the fact that it's from Transylvania, and is rated R for violence and language makes me think it can't be all that bad. Let the witch hunt begin.
