The War of Worlds?

I saw the trailer for this movie today...I think it's a Spielberg movie and I believe Tom Cruise is in it. Anybody have a clue what this is all about? It's the first I've seen of it.

It's based on the H.G. Wells novel of the same name. Basically, aliens invade, wreak a bunch of shit, and eventually the humans win (unless Spielberg twists the original ending of course ;) ).

If Spielberg's attached, I'm definitely seeing it. This looks like he's returning to his roots as a fun movie director (not saying his other projects weren't good, because they are). Can't wait to catch this one this summer.

The old movie sucked and the book wasn't much better.

I'm not sure how he could re-work it without completely changing huge chunks of the story around.

The commercials look pretty spiffy though.

I did a book report on War Of The Worlds in 9th grade. True story.

I can only remember bits of pieces but that hand over the earth and the cheap Star Trek (the original) noises for the weapons along with that long neck like eye that was part of the ships, is what stands out most from the Series.

I use to watch the series. It was funny watching them get drunk on sour milk and asking how old it was lol. Oh and the whole affair the one guy had with one of the alien chics was a bit odd.

I couldn't stop watching it. I think I've seen War of the Worlds as well.
