Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Which was the better? 1) Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) or 2) Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2004) Personally I think the remake was good - its unusual for the remake of a film to come out with any credit but the 2004 version does just that in my eyes. The original version wasn't much of a shocker for our generation (hell since Cable came around we've been able to see worse) the most notable bit and memorable bit is the "hook" (which features in both films) The remake builds up the story much better than the original, there are obvious changes (which are needed to make the film work again) but I personally would say the 2004 version was a success and is definately better than the original. your thoughts?

Rep Power: 4 ![]() | i cant vote on this i think they're about even, i own both and i LOVE the original it may be kinda tame by todays standards, but pretty much anything made before the 90s is. But its still one of my favs and i was really amazed at how good the remake was because i was expecting it to pretty much suck. So i think they're totally even.

| When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the country not enter the city. For this is the time of punishment in fullfillment of all that has been written. How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people. They will fall by the sword and be taken as prisoners to all nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. ...At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near. Luke 21:20-28 | ||

got me thinking about which was better and I realised that the 2004 remake - in my eyes was more enjoyable, maybe I could relate to the characters more - seeing as its set "now" where-as in the 1974 version the characters were alien to me. just a thought.

Rep Power: 5 ![]() ![]() | As films today the 2004 one stands out as the better film purely because the camera man keeps the camera steady and the editing doesn't make you want to throw up. HOWEVER When I watched TCM 04 there was no tension or horror just some nutter running around with a chainsaw. The origianal on the other hand has this whole creepy aura about it. Its pretty tame compared to some of todays stuff but theres just something about the movie. |

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | I agree to an extent but I do feel that we as todays youth can connect more with the group of young adults in the '04 version. I also feel the story (updated as it was) worked really well and although the '74 version was more of a down to earth horror flick I do think that the '04 carried and told the story better.
