Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Foreign films - Infernal Affairs (Chinese movie) (US version is call the Departed i think) Director: Wai Keung Lau, Alan Mak Producer: Wai Keung Lau, Nansun Shi, John Chong Screenwriter: Alan Mak, Felix Chong and this is what the story is about... A cop goes undercover as a gangster while, simultaneously, a gangster infiltrates the police force, pretending to be a cop. These two sleeper agents live underground for a decade before a series of mistakes clues in all the wrong people as to what's going on and each mole is ordered to root out the double agent--which in both cases happens to be themselves. Torn between conflicting father figures--an avuncular, paranoid gang boss and a morally comprised police superintendent--the two moles slowly feel the net tighten like an icy hand around their necks. Juggling idenities, always one mistake from a bullet in their head, and seduced by the attractions of their cover idenities, both men slowly unravel, battering themselves bloody against the bars of their own personal hells, while their souls ice over. (thanks to Yahoo.com) another one is Battle Royale (Jap movie) Directed by: Kinji Fukasaku Writing credits: Kenta Fukasaku, Koushun Takami (novel) and the story is about... At the dawn of the new millennium, Japan is ina a state of near-collapse. Unemployment is at an all-time high, and violence amongst the nations youth is spiralling out of control. With school children boycotting their lessons and physically abusing their teachers, a beleaguered and near-defeated government decides to introduce a radical new measure: the Battle Royale Act Overseen by their former teacher, Kitano ('Beat' Takeshi) and requiring that a randomly chosen school class be taken to a deserted island and forced to fight each other to the death, the Act dictates that only one pupil be allowed to survive the punishment. He or she will return, not as the victor, but as the ultimate proof of the lengths to which the government are prepared to go to curb the tide of juvenile disobedience.(Summary written by Killer-40 @ http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0266308/plotsummary) |

The Infernal Affairs trilogy is not only my favorite forgeign trilogy but one of my favorite trilogies ever. It is right up there with stuff like Lord Of The Rings. Andy Lau has taken over the spot of being my favorite Hong Kong actor. I still love Jackie but other than New Police Story which was great all he has been doing are American movies and cameos in movies like the Twins Effect. And then you add the actor I consider second best right now Tony Leung. So with my two current favorite Hong Kong actors in it then it couldn't get much better right? Wrong. You also have Anthony Wong and Eric Tsang to add even more great starpower. Then for a small part of the first movie and the second one you have Edison Chen and Shawn Yue to play the younger Andy Lau and Tony Leung characters. The cast is amazing. | ||
