Tool album leaked online

Metal Hammer has posted the following report from their man in the field, Tommy Udo:

"The new Tool album leaked out online the week before last. I got it on the Saturday of the Easter weekend. It’s definitely the full mastered album.

The single also leaked out weeks ago apparently. A lot of the kids on the Tool message board are suggesting that the band did it themselves though there is also some suggestion that it was nicked from an FTP server that supplies tracks to US radio stations.


It was kind of interesting the way it became unstoppable really quickly. A lot of the postings are on mp3 blogging sites. The way these work is that people rip and upload albums to Rapidshare or Megaupload, post the links on their blogs and watch the traffic go through the roof. One post had had the link killed 10 minutes after it was posted but by the end of Saturday last week there were thousands of links, people uploading it under different names."
