The Day After Tomorrow

Was just released on DVD and VHS today. I rented it and plan to watch it tonight. The trailers for it look awesome; should be a good movie with cool visuals.

I didn't care for it. After the first hour the film becomes a bore. The characters are just uninteresting, poorly acted and the dialogue is soap opera quality.

Ugh, bad movie.

When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the country not enter the city. For this is the time of punishment in fullfillment of all that has been written. How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people. They will fall by the sword and be taken as prisoners to all nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
...At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.

But surely the visuals of mass flooding make up for a poor storyline....right?

They don't know what they are talking about. The effects alone are worth it. Hell, Roper gave it a thumbs down in the theatre but still gave it thumbs up for DVD watching. I plan on buying the DVD.

The effects end after the first hour (aside from poorly made CGI wolves). The result is a boring, poorly acted second half.

Its typical Roland Emmerich, if you liked Indpendence Day, you'll love it, no questions asked.

Personally, I thought the film was good, it came out just after Troy which was a big let down and this has an early contender for popcorm movie of the year until Collateral come around.

This film ain't a piece of art or something thats gonna get recognition for great acting and storyline, Oscar quality it ain;t, but its an enjoyable film nonetheless and well worth the DVD purchase.

After seeing this film, I wanted those three hours of my life back. And I watched this while on a plane.
