| Resident Evil: Apocalypse The Hive has been re-opened and all Hell breaks loose in Racoon City. That's the basic plot of this movie and truthfully I really enjoyed it. It was a lot better than the first one, as there was a lot more of action and gore. Mila kicked a helluva lot of zombie ass! Not to mention that since the first took place in The Hive, this one spread the disaster on a grand scale, therefore making the problem seem like an epidemic rather than an isolated incident. It kind of reminded me of Dawn of The Dead.
They did a good job bridging the first to the second film and explained a few things that were part of the first film. For example, Why the virus was created and What happened while Alice slept. As for the overall mood of the film, it was actually a lot darker than the first and introduced the secondary characters in the Resident Evil series, ie. Jill Valentine.
Since the film was filmed here in Toronto, the locals will recognize a lot of the landmarks. Ex. there's a scene with a movie theatre and that place is actually right by my home. I spent most of the film going, wait I know that place.
Overall I really liked it and hope they continue with the franchise, but that's just my opinion. |
