The guy who played Nightcrawler basically had a lot of nasty things to say about the studio and Bryan Singer after X2 so they cut him out of the film. To me the ending of X3 was as it should be as it defined Jean and Wolverine's relationship perfectly. "You would die for them?!" "No...not them....for you." His character is definetely more interesting in the comics. Like when he becomes Archangel and a Diciple of Apocolypse. Not to mention he was one of the original X-Men. Nightcrawler was just written out of the movie. A reason I heard was because with the addition of Beast, they had too many "blue" mutants that would confuse moviegoers.
