Robert Downey Jr. Cast as New "Iron Man"

Director Jon Favreau has now CONFIRMED Robert Downey Jr. as superhero Iron Man in the new comic movie on his MySpace Blog here. Here's what he said exactly:

"It is true. Robert Downey Jr. is Tony Stark. I am about as excited as I can be. I saw what he can do and he is extremely enthusiastic about playing Stark. I can say with absolute certainty that there is no better choice. The humor and emotional dimension he brings truly raises the bar on this project. Get ready."

I hope Downey is clean now and off the drugs. He is brillant actor if he can get his act together.

Robert Downey jr as The Iron Man? He might be a good actor, but I find that weird for whatever reason. I felt the same way when they got Aflleck to play the Daredevil.

The difference is Downey is a character actor.

Basically it's a superhero tale of a business man who is drinking himself to death, gets captured by terrorists and gets shot through the chest.

In order to live he events a suit of armor that keeps him alive. Without this suit of armor he'll die so he has to wear it every so often.

He starts to use this suit of armor to do hero like deeds and the press name him "Iron Man".

He joined the avengers with Captain America and is one of the older super heros.

Thats the short version of it but theres a lot more details to his origin along the way.
