I would watch the Emmys in between my DVR programs I was watching last night (like Big Brother and Road Rules/Real World Challenge, not exactly Emmy shit), but I will toss in my comments after each category. Lets hear what you have to say about this years Emmy awards. One thing I found VERY annoying about this years awards were that so many people were nominated in canceled shows or shows that the series is over. Was this a message from the academy? Let's hope so, because more often than not, good shows get canceled because of impatient networks. Also, these are like the ONLY awards that I care about, since I watch a decent amount of tv, but I still could care less about the overall show. If you know more about some of these winners, feel free to chime in. (winners clearly have a star next to their show) DD Drama Series:
"Grey's Anatomy,'' ABC
''House,'' Fox
''The Sopranos,'' HBO

''24,'' Fox
"The West Wing,'' NBC
(yeah BABY !!! Well, I watch Grey's and Sopranos along with 24. Haven't ever seen The West Wing or much of House, but they nailed this one in my opinion. I do believe that 24 hasn't ever recieved an Emmy so after 5 years, its about freaking time. Jack Bauer and the crew MOST definetly deserve it. ) Comedy Series:
''Arrested Development,'' Fox
''Curb Your Enthusiasm,'' HBO

''The Office,'' NBC
''Scrubs,'' NBC
''Two and a Half Men,'' CBS
(Well, I watched Curb back in its earlier days and havent caught an episode in a couple years, but I can see why it was nominated. It's a show that runs off a very loose script and the rest is ad-libbed....genius. The Office in my opinion was the best choice of these not so funny shows. Sorry Arrested Development, but that show just isnt funny. Same for Two and a Half Men. Could that show BE any cornier? My Name is Earl & How I Met Your Mother should have been nominated. That would have been Legendary !!) Miniseries:
''Bleak House (Masterpiece Theatre),'' PBS

''Elizabeth I,'' HBO
''Into the West,'' TNT
''Sleeper Cell,'' Showtime
(Never saw any of these, nor have I ever even heard of them, so I am clearly not qualified to discuss these, haha) Made-for-TV Movie:
''Flight 93,'' A&E
''The Flight That Fought Back,'' Discovery Channel

''The Girl in the Cafe,'' HBO
''Mrs. Harris,'' HBO
''Yesterday,'' HBO
(See last category.) Variety, Music or Comedy Series:
''The Colbert Report,'' Comedy Central

''The Daily Show With Jon Stewart,'' Comedy Central
''Late Night With Conan O'Brien,'' NBC
''Late Show With David Letterman,'' CBS
''Real Time With Bill Maher,'' HBO.
(I have never really seen much of the Jon Stewart show but people seem to really love it. I personally would have given the nod to Conan, but I can totally see Stewart winning it. Anyone else notice The Tonight Show not even nominated?) Actor, Drama Series:
Christopher Meloni, ''Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,'' NBC
Denis Leary, ''Rescue Me,'' FX Network
Peter Krause, ''Six Feet Under,'' HBO

Kiefer Sutherland, ''24,'' Fox
Martin Sheen, ''The West Wing,'' NBC
(Seriously? Who else could have won it? I personally think that there are a couple people that were snubbed. Namely Matthew Fox from LOST. I have also heard good things about 6 ft under, but still havent seen it. Law and Order and The West Wing..........I guess you have to cater to the older crowd too, because I don't know one person that watches either of these shows) Actress, Drama Series:
Kyra Sedgwick, ''The Closer,'' TNT
Geena Davis, ''Commander in Chief,'' ABC

Mariska Hargitay, ''Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,'' NBC
Frances Conroy, ''Six Feet Under,'' HBO
Allison Janney, ''The West Wing,'' NBC
(I have never seen any of these shows, so I will pass on this category. Why did I think there were bigger and better women than the following, but nobody comes to mind) Supporting Actor, Drama Series:
William Shatner, ''Boston Legal,'' ABC
Oliver Platt, ''Huff,'' Showtime
Michael Imperioli, ''The Sopranos,'' HBO
Gregory Itzin, ''24,'' Fox

Alan Alda, ''The West Wing,'' NBC
(Seriously, what is with this West Wing crap? Never saw Huff, but there are plenty of good choices here. Anyone that watched 24 absoultely HATED the character that Itzin played as "President Logan", also gotta give it up to Imperioli. He pretty much is the glue that holds the Sopranos together. Also, how can you not LOVE Denny Crane?. They really dropped the ball on this one) Supporting Actress, Drama Series:
Candice Bergen, ''Boston Legal,'' ABC
Sandra Oh, ''Grey's Anatomy,'' ABC
Chandra Wilson, ''Grey's Anatomy,'' ABC

Blythe Danner, ''Huff,'' Showtime
Jean Smart, ''24,'' Fox
(More good shows and the winner is a show that I have never seen once again. This is Gwenyth Palthrows mom I just found out. Whoopie... I would have given it to Sandra Oh, but thats just me.) Actor, Comedy Series:
Larry David, ''Curb Your Enthusiasm,'' HBO
Kevin James, ''The King of Queens,'' CBS

Tony Shalhoub, ''Monk,'' USA
Steve Carell, ''The Office,'' NBC
Charlie Sheen, ''Two and a Half Men,'' CBS
(So Charlie Sheen gets recognized again, while Jason Lee isnt even nominated? That is just plain wrong. I should really start watching some of these shows that are winning huh? The irony is that the head of Monks diner has never seen 1 episode of Monk. haha. Steve Carell should have won this in my eyes. He makes the Office what it is. It really wouldnt be a very good show at all without him) Actress, Comedy Series:
Lisa Kudrow, ''The Comeback,'' HBO
Jane Kaczmarek, ''Malcolm in the Middle,'' Fox

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, ''The New Adventures of Old Christine,'' CBS
Stockard Channing, ''Out of Practice,'' CBS
Debra Messing, ''Will & Grace,'' NBC
(I guess they went with the best of the worst here. Julias new show is cute, but not really drop down hilarious. But then again, neither are any of the show nom'd. Julia looked really good last night as well and really didnt expect to win judging by her acceptance speech.) Supporting Actor, Comedy Series:
Will Arnett, ''Arrested Development,'' Fox

Jeremy Piven, ''Entourage,'' HBO
Bryan Cranston, ''Malcolm in the Middle,'' Fox
Jon Cryer, ''Two and a Half Men,'' CBS
Sean Hayes, ''Will & Grace,'' NBC
(HEY LOOK!!! They got one right !! If Piven didn't win this one they really should have just closed shop for good, because the character Ari makes Entourage what it is. Nobody else could pull off his vulgarity and racial slurs and make them hilarious like Pivens does.) Supporting Actress, Comedy Series:
Cheryl Hines, ''Curb Your Enthusiasm,'' HBO
Alfre Woodard, ''Desperate Housewives,'' ABC
Jaime Pressly, ''My Name Is Earl,'' ABC
Elizabeth Perkins, ''Weeds,'' Showtime

Megan Mullally, ''Will & Grace,'' NBC
(Come on now. I realize Will & Grace is over and this was most likely Mullallys last shot at one for a while, but come on. Jamie Pressly is hilarious as white trash Joy.) Actor, Miniseries or a Movie:
Charles Dance, "Bleak House," Masterpiece Theatre
Donald Sutherland, ''Human Trafficking,'' Lifetime
Ben Kingsley, ''Mrs. Harris,'' HBO
Jon Voight, ''Pope John Paul II,'' CBS

Andre Braugher, ''Thief,'' FX Network
(No idea for this category and the next 3. Moving on.......) Actress, Miniseries or a Movie:
Kathy Bates, ''Ambulance Girl,'' Lifetime
Gillian Anderson, ''Bleak House (Masterpiece Theatre),'' PBS

Helen Mirren, ''Elizabeth I,'' HBO
Judy Davis, ''A Little Thing Called Murder,'' Lifetime
Annette Bening, ''Mrs. Harris,'' HBO
Supporting Actor, Miniseries or a Movie:
Denis Lawson, ''Bleak House (Masterpiece Theatre),'' PBS
Hugh Dancy, ''Elizabeth I,'' HBO

Jeremy Irons, "Elizabeth I," HBO
Robert Carlyle, ''Human Trafficking,'' Lifetime
Clifton Collins Jr., ''Thief,'' FX Network
Supporting Actress, Miniseries or a Movie:
Kelly Macdonald, ''The Girl in the Cafe,'' HBO
Shirley Jones, ''Hidden Places,'' Hallmark
Ellen Burstyn, ''Mrs. Harris,'' HBO
Cloris Leachman, ''Mrs. Harris,'' HBO
Alfre Woodard, ''The Water Is Wide (Hallmark Hall of Fame Presentation),'' CBS
