(Reuters) - Another celebrity couple has fallen prey to the curse of MTV. Rock star Travis Barker and his Playboy Playmate wife Shanna Moakler, the stars of MTV reality show "Meet the Barkers," are calling it quits after less than two years of marriage, People magazine reported on Tuesday.
Their split comes four weeks after Dave Navarro and Carmen Electra, who chronicled their 2004 nuptials in MTV's "'Til Death Do Us Part," said they were "amicably separating," and eight months after Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, the stars of MTV's "Newlyweds," announced their official separation.
People quoted Barker's publicist as saying, "I can confirm that Travis filed this morning." The publicist also confirmed the filing when contacted by Reuters.
The magazine quoted Moakler as saying, "My only concern right now is for the welfare and best interests of my children."
Barker, 30, mohawked drummer with defunct punk-rock trio Blink-182, married Moakler, 31, in October 2004. Their wacky domestic exploits were detailed on "Meet the Barkers," which aired on the lifestyle programming network for 12 episodes.
They have two children together. Additionally, Moakler has a daughter from a previous relationship with boxer Oscar De La Hoya. A former Miss USA, the Rhode Island native was Playboy's Playmate of the Month in December 2001. At the time, she was dating actor Dennis Quaid, who was 21 years her senior.
The destruction of the past is perhaps the greatest of all crimes.

lol what a surprise. maybe he'll get back with his 1st wife since he dumped her for the playmate. but whoever wouldn't dump their wife for a playmate is either a fag or an idiot.
Seams like there is another famous couple spliting up every week. Never watched that show but have herd about it. But MTV most have a freakin curse when it comes to those couple shows.

USA Today
(Aug. 16) -- Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and Playboy Playmate and former Miss USA Shanna Moakler, who filed for divorce on Aug. 8, have taken their real-life drama from TV to postings on MySpace.
The couple, married on Oct. 30, 2004, starred in the MTV reality series The Barkers, which detailed both their partying and parenting. With the show off the air, their saga continues on her site, myspace.com/shannamoakler, and his, blog.myspace.com/immawinnerbaby. (Publicists confirm both are real postings.)
In a posting from Tuesday, Barker appears to be looking ahead. "Today is a new day, my hotel is still here, the suns out, my cadillac has a full tank of gas and the city is pulsing. ... the amount of emails and support I received from u guys was krazy. I'm moving on, moving up and life is what I make of it."
It was a turnaround from his Monday posting, in which he accused Moakler of neglecting daughter Alabama, 7 months; son Landon, 2; and her daughter Atiana, 7, from her relationship with boxer Oscar De La Hoya.
