Monday - July 17, 2006 by Jolene "foxxylady" PetipasThe tell-all CD of an aspiring New York rapper helped authorities bring down his entire Brooklyn-based drug organization last week.

Terrence "Big Chef" Jones and 20 others were arrested last week, bringing an end to a 16-month narcotics investigation of the Bushwick Houses, called "Operation Bushwhack". Big Chef referred to himself as "the 500-gram cooker" and the "bag twister" in his lyrics, and listed the names of his drug-dealing crew in the liner notes of his CD.

"It's like the confessions of a rap star/drug dealer," Inspector Steven Powers of the Brooklyn North Narcotics Unit told The NY Daily News. "We looked at it and said, 'Wow, he's giving a lot of details about his life".

Authorities revealed that undercover officers made 160 buys in the hallways, rooftops and apartments of the Bushwick Houses during their investigation.

Jones, who lead a gang know as the Murda Crew, claimed his CD titled Hood Hop sold 1,500 copies. The cover of Hood Hop features a picture of the Bushwick Houses.

Jones is facing charges of conspiracy to distribute narcotics, and criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance.

Smiling Defendant Removed From Court

A murder defendant who wouldn't stop smiling was removed from the courtroom before being sentenced to death for killing his former girlfriend.


During his trial, Clarence Fry laughed, smiled and at one point ate candy during testimony.


Summit County Common Pleas Judge Patricia Cosgrove repeatedly warned him on Tuesday to stop smirking and making disparaging remarks about his victim. When he did not comply, the judge ordered him out of the courtroom. He watched his sentence imposed through a video link.


"You're a pure psychopath in the full sense of the word," the judge told Fry. "You have no conscience."


Fry, 46, of Akron, was convicted of aggravated murder in the killing of Tamila Hardison, 41, who was stabbed in front of her grandchildren in July 2005. He never denied stabbing her but said lesser charges were warranted because his actions were not premeditated. He claimed he was enraged because she stole things from him
