I haven't read any latley, but it used to be the x-men. They just had great storylines. Although I think one of the best storylines of all time is the Death of Superman saga.

The best comic out there now, that nowhere near enough people are reading is definately Ex Machina.

No, it's not some weird japanese manga bot fest, it's a witty, edgey political, super heroish (Eisner Award Winning) comic. It is only 13 issues old, and already it is up there with the best of the last 10 years at least. Not only is the word "****" used freely (a sure sign of class), but for such a serious work, it is a lot lighter than you would at first expect. The story follows the adventures of post-9/11 New York man on the spot, Mayor Hundred. As an unlikely (dorky) super hero, he captured the hearts of the city with his 9/11 heroics, when he used his machine controlling powers to steer one of the 2 jets out of the way of the WTC, leaving one of the towers standing. The series begins with Hundred trying to come to terms with the challenges of being both the Mayor of New York and a freak thanks to the accident that gave him the ability to talk to machines.

It is definately worth checking out for anyone that is into comics - you can pick up the first run in a Trade Paper Back now, and I guarantee you won't be dissapointed.
