Rep Power: 19 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Zeppelin Greatest Band Ever To celebrate their pending tenth anniversary on July 1, 2006, AVRev.com has compiled its list of the Top 100 Rock Bands of All Time. Unlike past lists that are based on mere opinion, the AVRev.com "Top Rock Bands" list uses the same type of analytical tools employed by sports franchises and applies them to rock bands to objectively determine which bands are the best. Among the categories considered were: U.S. Sales (100 points), Songs/Songwriting (100), Technical Ability (100), Live Performance (50), Consistency vs. Longevity (50) and Random (50). Random is a category that allows a judge to vote on how likely he or she is to want to hear a band's songs on their iPod playlist. Topping the list with a total of 525 points was Led Zeppelin. All of the judges gave Led Zeppelin high marks not only for their songs/songwriting ability, but also their consistency as a band through the years. The 100 band nominees range from the usual suspects that make up classic rock playlists, but also include more out-of-the-box sleeper bands from the 1950s through today's most popular bands. The list doesn't include solo artists such as Michael Jackson or Elvis Presley. Whilst other huge bands were not involved ie KISS, Abba, Chicago...etc Ranking - Band - Total 1. Led Zeppelin - 525 2. The Beatles - 514 3. Pink Floyd - 506 4. The Jimi Hendrix Experience - 503 5. Van Halen - 496 6. Queen - 493 7. The Eagles - 479 8. Metallica - 468 9. U2 - 455 10. Black Eyed Peas - 214 ---------------------- Obviously many (if not all) will disagree with this list in some way, and I am no different. I'm very disappointed to see, perhaps the two most innovative metal bands ever in Sabbath and Maiden so low. There are so many faults I could complain about, so many bands I wouldn't put in there, not just going by my favourites but actually looking at how they were graded...But music is so opinionated... Opinions? Care to post your Top Ten bands based on how they were graded? (I may post mine later... )

The bottom line, and bear in mind, I'm not a huge fan myself, is that the answer is and has been The Beatles since the 1960's.

I actually used to be obsessed with Slayer in my teen years, I recently heard them on Satelite radio and almost had to drive myself into a tree due to how god awful this band is. To think I actually thought they were talented. Dance with the dead in your dreams. Also I think the list isnt that far off really. At least the top ten that is. Once you start putting Audioslave in there thats when the list loses a little credibility. Good post Peace.
