Taylor Hicks on Top...WTF?
In the "Signs the world will end soon" news department ...

"American Idol" winner Taylor Hicks soared to the top of the Billboard singles chart with "Do I Make You Proud."

In its first week of sales, Hicks' "Idol" hit sold 190,000 copies to lead the Hot 100 singles chart put out by Billboard. In addition, Hicks' single sold 38,000 digital downloads, according to Nielsen Soundscan. The single, which includes a cover of the Doobies' "Takin' It To the Streets" as a b-side, also led the Pop 100 and Single Sales charts.

Hicks conquered Shakira to rule the charts, dethroning her "Hips Don't Lie" single, which had been on top for two weeks.

Hicks was recently named the Hottest Bachelor of 2006 by People magazine.

Yeah, I don't like any of it.

They have American Idol tours and everything though. They make tons of money off of this stuff.

oh i know. i would love to go to an american idol concert and watch people sing other people's song. you might as well just go watch people do karaoke, it will be a lot cheaper.

There is some real talent I'm sure, but if they win, and I think if they make the final twelve, they have to sign a contract, and Idol owns them for the first CD, so they have no control over their music at first. I believe thats what I heard
