A member of the Atlanta-based group Dem Franchize Boyz was arrested yesterday (June 13) during a police raid at a local recording studio.
Authorities confiscated more than 11 pounds of marijuana, $150,000 in cash, two handguns and a stack of pornography from the Making Money studio in Atlanta.
Sources told AllHipHop.com that all of the recording equipment was also seized, as well as four cars. The identity of the group member arrested was not immediately available.
"They were in the bathroom and they were trying to flush a lot of the drugs down the toilet," Atlanta Police Officer Richard Light told Channel 2 Action News. "They just had too much and couldn't flush it all down."
Two children, who were at the studio during the raid, were taken into custody and were later released to their mother.
WSBTV reports that eight people were arrested, including Making Big Moves Records CEO Anthony Blalock. The raid occurred after authorities received a tip that drugs were being sold at the studio.
The suspects tried to get rid of the evidence after noticing officers on surveillance cameras, according to police.
Update: Dem Franchize Boyz Member Parlae, Charged With Drug Trafficking

Parlae, a member of Dem Franchize Boyz, was charged with trafficking marijuana and released on $100,000 bond yesterday (June 14).
As SOHH previously reported, Parlae (Born Maurice Gleaton) was among eight people arrested in a drug raid at the studios of Making Big Moves Entertainment in Atlanta on Tuesday evening (June 13).
Authorities who swept the studios seized 11 pounds of marijuana, two handguns, four cars, recording equipment, plasma TVs and more than $160,000 in cash.
According to Officer Richard Light of the Atlanta Police Department, some of the suspects were caught trying to flush drugs and money down the toilet during the raid.
Light divulged that the raid was set in motion after his department was tipped about drug transactions occurring at the facility.
Two children were also found in the studio during the raid.
Parlae's attorney, Ash Joshi, would reveal to the judge who charged the rapper, that the children were Parlae's siblings and were under his care.
"He's at a point in his career where this is not something that he's involved in or interested with and he would just not make that kind of mistake if he had any idea that there was that kind of quantity of marijuana in that location," said Joshi.
Melissa Victor, a publicist for Dem Franchize Boyz, said Gleaton was present at the studio, but committed no crime.
"Based on what we know, the facts will show that Parlae will be exonerated of any charges in this matter," she said. Victor also claimed that a video recording of the arrest would help clear Parlae.
The CEO of Making Big Moves Entertainment, 27-year-old Anthony Blalock, was also arrested in the raid and charged with felony trafficking and marijuana possession charges as well as possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His bond was denied.
The other five suspects received bond ranging from $75,000 to $100,000.
SOHH Exclusive: Dem Franchize Boyz' Parlae Has Hearing Delayed, Drug Charges May Be Reduced
Tuesday - July 25, 2006 by Janeé Bolden
Dem Franchize Boyz rapper Parlae appeared in a FultonCounty court yesterday (7/24) for a plea hearing, only to have the appearance rescheduled for next month. Parlae's lawyer believes the rapper's charges may be reduced from drug trafficking to possession.
Parlae, whose real name is Maurice Gleaton, appeared before the Honorable Judge Thelma Wyatt Cummings Moore on marijuana trafficking charges stemming from a raid at an Atlanta recording studio on June 13th.
Gleaton's attorney Ash Joshi was present to represent him, however six of his co-defendants were without legal representation. Judge Moore recessed the hearing until August 28th to allow the defendants an opportunity to secure counsel.
Last month Gleaton was one of eight individuals arrested and charged with drug trafficking after a raid at Making Big Moves Entertainment resulted in the police seizure of several pounds of marijuana, two handguns and over $100,000 dollars in cash.
The latest development in the case is that charges in the case may soon be reduced to possession with the intent to distribute rather than trafficking.
"The first thing is the marijuana has to be weighed to see if it's more than ten pounds. In the state of Georgia if it's less than ten pounds it's not trafficking it's possession with the intent to distribute. It's still a felony but it's far less serious," Ash Joshi told SOHH.
Yesterday's plea hearing would have provided the defendants an opportunity to have their charges read aloud, receive copies of their indictment and enter their pleas to the charges.
Prior to this arrest, Parlae was already on probation for a marijuana case from two years ago. While prosecutors previously attempted to revoke his probation, Parlae's attorney successfully argued to kept it in place. Parlae is currently out of jail on bond. Joshi said regardless of whether the charges are reduced Parlae plans to plead not guilty.
"He's not pleading guilty to any charge, any guilty plea would be a violation of his probation," Joshi explained.
Even though Making Big Moves Entertainment CEO Anthony Blalock (who was named in the search warrant) was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and another man was discovered by police attempting to flush marijuana in the toilet, Joshi said it will be a challenge for prosecutors to make a greater connection between the defendants and the drugs or the defendants and the studio in order to make their case. Joshi says that Gleaton's presence at the studio is not enough to convict him of the charges.
