'And bringing in the director of 30 Days Of Night for this movie will give it a much more dark feel to the series, which the book had.
Darker feel, sure. But one of the thing I found annoying about the books was how they always failed to pull the trigger on the epic fights. It's almost a running gag to keep talking about a huge fight to happen, but it either doesn't happen or when it does, it's much smaller in the description. First and foremost, it is a series geared towards teenage girls. Vampires and "Werewolves" may be the topic on hand, but the author chose to focus very little one the dark side to the characters that we're used to in other movies.

Very true, I'm sure Slade will focus a lot more on the fight scene than the book will however since it probably won't be from Bella's point of view.
I too hated that Meyer shied away from every fight scene or avoided a fight entirely but as you said, she targeted a teenage girl audience. It's personally to me, what made the fourth book a waste of time.

The same thing could be said about the third book. They kept going on and on about how the fight with the infants was going to be so bloody, yet they writer decided to have the point of view with the small 2 on 2 fight that for the most part was just walking around. Why build something up if you won't give in to the bloodshed?

I know, that's the worst part. I didn't think I would like them when my niece begged me to read the first one, and I ended up reading all of them. Damn her. <.<
