Jason has been killed "For good" at the end of how many movies though? Had they continued with the same time line (As opposed to doing the remake) would you really ever believe he was killed anywhere in 2001-2007? Had Jason X been a success (The single worst return for a Friday film with just over 2 million for profit) there would of been sequels to Jason X. There's actually a book series titled Jason X. The first one is pretty much exactly what the movie was, but for every future installment, it was another sequel of sorts with Über-Jason dealing with being in the future.
Besides, this is Friday the 13th we're talking about. From Part 6 on, they didn't even try to have continuity from film to film.
Pretty much my thought as well.

Nah, like.. of course I expect Jason to always make his 'return' but I don't like how in Jason X they've spelled it out so aggressively in saying 'yeah..he'll never die'.. To me, it's like breaking kayfabe.

It's not really breaking kayfabe though. Since it took New Line so many years to finally do Freddy vs Jason, the Friday creators decided to just go on. There was still more of a tale to tell on Earth 2.

So, is the original continuity done now that Michael Bay and his team have started from the beginning?
Yup, it's all done now. As far as this time line goes, Tommy Jarvis doesn't exist (Yet, at least), Jason is still human and Jason was an only child. The old time line now only exists in fan fictions and the book/comics series.

I liked Jason X. And was the only person in the theater when it came out. I thought it was good for what it was, a chance to keep Jason fresh in the minds. I agree with the CGI element in that it wasn't necessary for most of it. The kill scenes were pretty good and the fact that they didn't know what they were dealing with was pretty cool. Great summary of it Jim. Thanks. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

I seem to recall during the back story of Jason, one of the teenagers did say he was an only child. However, I've finished watching Freddy vs. Jason, so once I write up the review I can rewatch the remake to find out for sure.

I know it's not a part of the original canon, as flimsy and swiss-cheesy as it is, but please review the remake in this thread.
