Gran Torino - I wasn't very interested at first, despite Clint Eastwood being one of my favourite actors, but after seeing the trailer and hearing how good it was, I gave it a go. Wow. Every now and then, I watch a movie that actually gets me more emotionally invested than usual and this was one of them. Eastwood's character is a grumpy old racist man who is somehow loveable and turns a stereotypical "Get off my lawn" line into something as badass and cool as "Make my day". The ending is heartbreaking, but perfect. SPOILER -> Despite dying at the gunshots of the antagonist gang, it's obviously the way he intended it. He's begged forgiveness for his sins and finally accepted a changing society by befriending the "gooks" next door, so much that he sacrificed his life for them. That makes the tragedy a happy ending, if you ask me. I am definitely buying the DVD for this. 9/10

Pulp Fiction- This isnt a movie to watch with a 5 year old girl, have you tried explaining what ass rape is? Well now I have. I looked at the cast and saw John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, and Bruce Willis, and I was sold. Sadly though Samuel only shows up for the first 10 minutes and last 10 minutes of the film. I generally follow John Travolta and Mrs. Wallace ( think that was her name) around. The start of the movie seems rather random, but it all adds up in the end. There is lots of racism, gore, and obscene humor. 9/10
HellBoy- Its time to relive the fantasy version of WWII. The movie starts out in Scotland where the American forces are moving on on the Nazi empire with a doctor and we meet possibly the best character in the film, Karl Ruprect Kroenen. The Nazi empire is trying to open a portal into another world, but is stopped by the American army. However, the portal has been opened too long and a little red ape makes its way through. Overall this story has action, romance, and comedy. Sadly though Kroenen is only in a few parts of the movie, however we do learn about his personality and why he looks the way he does. Those who become interested in his character will love that, the character however, is much different from those who have read the comice. Kroenen is more of a killer in the film, noted as "Hitlers top assassin." 7/10
Hellboy II- The movie follows a story told to Hellboy by the doctor from the first film. The story is about an agreement made between elfs and humans regarding an unstoppable army and a crown that controls them, which was devided into three peices. The movie follows Hellboy in an attempt to stop and elf prince before he gains all the peices of the crown and raises the army to destroy the human race. This film has a few twists and turns, but the vilians are not focused on as much as the first film, and the story doesnt have as much depth as the first movie. 6.5/10
Run Fat Boy Run- Sorry, but I watched this a week and a half ago so the character names arent fresh in my mind. Anyhow, the main character sets out to gain back the pregnant wife which he left at the alter. However, she has found a new man who is more well off than the main character. The main character find out that his would be ex wife's new man runs in marathons, thus the story follows the main characters training for the marathon which he hopes will convince his would be ex wife that he is a changed man. There is a ton of comedy in this film some juvenile some that the older generation like myself would enjoy. Its a film that I feel you would be able to take children to as there is no nudity. 8/10
Tropic Thunder- The movie follows a bunch of stuck up movie stars on the set of a war movie. They dont respect the director so he sets them up in a jungle in sort of a reality based setting. However, this fake reality quicky becomes real and the group of movie stars are forced to fight their way out, oblivious to the fact that the are no longer shooting a movie. There are some funny bits, but its not as funny as I would have expected. Im sure the younger people would get a good laugh from it though. 7.5/10
It was okay, but it was just a bit over the top. It kind of dragged a little bit. The ending was a bit suspenseful, but it was a big jump from the flow of the rest of the movie.

As you might have guessed, this is a horror musical of sorts. The story takes place in a futuristic time where a massive sickness has taken over the planet and much of humanity needs new organs to survive. There is an organ warehouse company called Geneco which sells organs at a reduced price. Now even though the price may be cheap, if you miss a payment, the price will be high. Geneco sends out a repoman to collect the bought organs of those who miss a payment. As the movie goes on we are shown a story about the repomans life from many different sides involving many different characters. Their points of view in the story all revolve around one person, the repomans dead wife. Now I have a few problems with the film, for one the movie is misleading and the villian isnt who you'd think from reading the discription on the movie. The next problem is that even though its an opera, I dont remember there being any normal dialog between characters, and the singing can become annoying after awhile. Besides that, this film holds some dark humor, there are a few swerves in the story, and the ending is packed with emotion. Not to mention that even though it is an opera, there are rock undertones to many of the song. The film is also very very graphic. This was my first musical type film and even though I wouldnt rush out to rent the film, its something new. 6/10
