It was only a matter of time. Sacha Baron Cohen’s new movie Bruno has its first lawsuit to deal with. Cohen’s last movie Borat left a trail of happy lawyers in its wake and it looks like Bruno will be no different.
Variety says a woman named Richelle Olson is suing Cohen claiming his antics left her disabled. It seems Bruno infiltrated a charity Bingo tournament and while calling the game offended the elderly audience with vulgarities. A struggle ensued when Olson tried to grab the microphone away from Bruno, and she claims Bruno then called his camera crew over to “attack” her hoping to “create a dramatic emotional response”. Olson’s suit says she was so severely injured in the fight that she now needs a wheelchair or a cane to get around.
Here’s where this gets fishy. The alleged incident happened way back in May 2007. Olson has waited a full two years before taking any action and, wouldn’t you know it, she’s filed her suit shortly after Bruno’s highly publicized MTV Movie Awards appearance. She’s been severely injured for two years, but waited until she saw Bruno on TV before doing anything about it? Something stinks here.
Stranger still, she’s only asking for $25,000 in her suit. You’d think injuries that severe would warrant at least a million. With such a low dollar amount, maybe NBC/Universal will just pay her off to shut the whole thing up which, of course, could be exactly why she’s asking for so little.

Well that isn't shocking. Borat had how many lawsuits? Probably an insane amount.
