Metallica Concert and Album News

Metallica performed their classic 1986 album, "Master Of Puppets", in its entirety for the first time ever on Saturday night (June 3) at the Rock am Ring festival in Nürburgring, Germany -- the opening show of the band's "Escape From The Studio '06" tour.
On the next day, June 4, the band played all eight songs from the album in their proper sequence again.
The group's setlist for the Saturday's performance was as follows:
01. Creeping Death
02. Fuel
03. Wherever I May Roam
04. For Whom the Bell Tolls
05. Fade to Black
[Whole Master of Puppets Albums Begins Here]
06. Battery
07. Master of Puppets
(James Hetfield announces that the band will perform entire "Master of Puppets" album)
08. The Thing That Should Not Be
09. Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
10. Disposable Heroes
11. Leper Messiah
12. Orion [had not been performed since Cliff Burton's death]
13. Damage Inc.
[Master of Puppets Album ends here]
14. Sad But True
15. Nothing Else Matters
16. One
17. Enter Sandman
18. Last Caress
19. Seek and Destroy
Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett recently said that the band have "about fifteen songs" written for the follow-up to 2003's "St. Anger", which they hope to release in early 2007. In a short interview conducted at the MAP MusiCares MAP Fund concert on May 12 honoring Hammett's Metallica bandmate James Hetfield, Kirk admitted the band is really hitting the song writing groove, even busting out two to three new songs per week.

--------------------

Four days until I see them live and I can't fucking wait (w00000000000t). One of the bands I've wanted to see for so long, and glad to hear they have a new album planned and hopefully they can get back to the heights of their early stuff (1980's), or at least avoid another St.Anger calamity.

Sounds like a good show. I've never seen them live though. I may go if they ever come here.

God, St Anger was awful, I hope they do something better this time round. I used to adore Metallica, I think S&M is an unrewarded masterpiece, but St Anger really put me off them.
