Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds premiere at the Cannes Film Festival this week and Variety's Thompson on Hollywood says that the filmmaker may make further changes to the movie:
Brad and Angelina seemed happy, as did an ebullient Quentin Tarantino, although TWC's 50/50 partner on the picture, Universal, UPDATE: is talking to the filmmaker about returning to the editing room post-Cannes to make some trims edits that might include adding a scene, says Tarantino, who reminds that the film, at two hours 27 minutes, is well under his contractual final cut length of two hours 48 minutes.
The Brad Pitt-starrer hits theaters on August 21, 2009.
Time to add some more in.

Re: Tarantino to Edit Inglourious Basterds Further?
This would probably be the first time ever I'll be going to a cinema to see a movie that long. Hopefully the changes make it more universally accepted, I've been reading a lot of mixed reviews about it.

Re: Tarantino to Edit Inglourious Basterds Further?
Watchmen was 2 hours 40 and I thought it was slightly too long despite being a very good movie. I expect this to be great though so it should be fine. Didn't he say the basement scene was his proudest moment as a director?
Can't wait.

Yeah, he did say that. But I believe he also thought Death Proof was one of his best films...
Nonetheless, I think he said that scene is about a half hour long which is very interesting. Thinking about it, how often do you come across a scene that long? I can only recall the ending to Glengarry Glen Ross.

Re: Tarantino to Edit Inglourious Basterds Further?
I heard people were complaining that there was too much talking and not enough action in it at Cannes so he'll go back to editing to add more action in I presume?
Overall, from what I've heard, it sounds like a decent film, but nothing special by Tarantino's standards.

lol from the trailer you'd think it was the opposite.
Hopefully that means the film contains a lot of great dialogue like many of his others.

Re: Tarantino to Edit Inglourious Basterds Further?
I heard it's one of Brad's worst performances of his careers unfortunately. Also I really wasn't digging his accent in the trailer. Seems like that could be something that'll irritate me through-out the film.
