20th Century Fox is developing a X-Men Origins: Wolverine spin-off featuring Deadpool, the wise-cracking mercenary played in the film by Ryan Reynolds, says The Hollywood Reporter.
Reynolds is attached to reprise the character for what for now is simply being called Deadpool. Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel Studios would act as producers.
The project is currently out to writers.
The trade adds that the studio considered a Deadpool spin-off early in "Wolverine's" development process, which is why it cast Reynolds.

Actually looking forward to this.

I really like Ryan Reynolds, but they have to reign in the humor. If they let him just do nothing but his sarcastic quips, it takes away from an action flick - such as in Blade 3.

That's really the point of Deadpool though BigP. Sarcasm and kicking ass... Saying that, they didn't feel the need to stick to the character in the Wolverine movie, so why bother here?
I'm oblivious as to how Marvel managed to cast the most perfect man in Hollywood to play the Deadpool character and then so epicly fucked it up without hesitation.

I realize that the character is sarcastic. But I don't recall him being sarcastic to the point of him saying nothing without it. And that's where Reynolds will go if you let him. I enjoy him - he's Canadian, plus I know a few people who met him when he was here filming a movie - but he's a guy who can be too much at times. His smug sarcasm becomes overwhelming at times if he's allowed to let it flow.

YES! I approve of this. The Deadpool character has such great potential and was not even used to full extent in the Wolverine movie. His involvement with allot of characters(Most notably Wolverine) as well as humor might draw allot considering the fans who do know him and the ones that want to know him. Book it Ryan!

Well really they couldn't do a whole lot with the Deadpool character in Wolverine because it was not about Deadpool or their relationship. I think they did just the right amount of Deadpool. They got out of it what they wanted, and that is the fans wanting more.
