It happens every year. A new Saw film comes along with renewed rumors that Dr. Gordon (Cary Elwes) will return in some capacity. Over the last 24 hours it hit a decent pitch when a synopsis erroneously appeared on XBox Live as a description for Saw V (see video below).
Chatter began on the web and folks speculated this was possibly a leaked description of Saw VI. Furthermore, buzz started to build that Gordon was returning.
Not the case at all.
It's a synopsis for the upcoming video game. But rumors of Gordon's cameo in Saw VI persist so we made a few phone calls this afternoon. Naturally, our sources behind-the-scenes wish to remain anonymous but all dismissed the possibility of seeing Gordon for the next entry. Right now, it's not in the cards at all. From the sounds of it, the narrative for what occurs in the sixth entry was mapped out long ago and he hasn't been included.
You have to remember, Elwes and Twisted Pictures were tied up in a legal mess that was resolved after the first Saw. Amends would have to be made if Gordon was going to return. Or, at least Elwes as Gordon. I'm sure they could re-cast the role...but that would be silly, no?
Kevin Greutert will be getting behind the camera for Saw VI soon, stay tuned for updates in the coming months!
