Ben Stiller has been playing the same character for at least ten years and in that time it’s really only worked twice. The first time he pulled it off, it was as Mr. Furious in the highly underrated superhero comedy Mystery Men. Since then he’s just regurgitated that character over and over again, minus the leather jacket and penchant for ineffectually fighting crime. And though it was only a retread of that same character, it’s hard to argue against his portrayal of Gaylord Focker in Meet the Parents. Pitting that character against Robert DeNiro was comedic gold… once.
Unfortunately we’re now headed for a third round of Gaylord. The long gestating third Meet the Parents installment has been given the go-ahead, according to Riskey Business Blog. Jay Roach won’t return as director, but Ben Stiller, Robert DeNiro, and Owen Wilson (who may have a bigger part this time around) are all in talks to reprise their roles. No word on the franchise’s female leads, but then it’s not like there’s a lot of demand for Teri Polo.
Universal is also looking for a director. They claim About A Boy’s Chris Weitz, Role Models director David Wain, and Yes Man Peyton Reed may be in contention for the job.
Though they’re still working on the cast and crew they already have a title. Say hello to the Little Fockers, a movie about what happens when the Focker couple has kids and Robert DeNiro plays a psychotic grandparent. Expect even more amazing Focker jokes, like the one in the movie’s title.

I'm in, but it's sad to see what Deniro do more movies like this. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

The first paragraph pretty much sums up what I feel about Ben Stiller. I enjoyed him in Zoolander and Tropic Thunder, but he basically has the same character repeatedly. He's worse than Adam Sandler in that regard.
Can't blame them for going back to a formula that works, but I had pretty much interest in the second one, so its somewhere less than zero for the third one.
